Transcription from Audio
The concept of musical Transcription is the transfer of the musical language used in medieval, renaissance or folkloric and popular music, to modern notation.
Nowadays, the term is also used for the work of writing the sound coming from an instrument or ensemble, voice, singing, etc. This type of order is the most used by musicians who play without theoretical knowledge as well as Record Companies that also need this service to offer their artists the service of record and storage of their songs in abbreviated score.
Lead sheet
A lead sheet is the score that shows only the melody, lyrics and harmony, usually using the chord symbols placed above and the letter below. It is usually used in popular music to collect the essential elements of the song without specifying how the song should be arranged or played. It is the score generally requested by Record Companies.
My job is to identify “by ear”, each note, each rhythm and each harmony (chords) of the song, arrangement, or instrumental set, and transcribe their corresponding notation in the score.
Besides to the Pop Rock style, my experience includes transcriptions made for diverse instrumental ensembles, orchestral music and Soundtracks.
